Igor V. Vilnit

The general annual meeting of shareholders elected Igor V. Vilnit Director General for CDB ME "Rubin" 29 June, 2012.

He was born 1 February 1956 in Leningrad.

Graduated from the Leningrad Shipbuilding Institute's Shipbuilding Department in 1979 and was sent to work for the Rubin Design Bureau (currently CDB ME "Rubin"). With his career made through all designer positions from a design engineer to Department Head, in 2005 he became Discipline Chief Designer and Head of Structural / Ship Appurtenance Division. Took part in developing submarines from the second to fourth generation. He was the leader in the implementation of several innovative design solutions realized for the first time in Russia to produce submarine pressure hulls and main hull structures and to be used in civil construction as well, for offshore ice-resistant oil and gas production facilities and structures within Saint Petersburg Flood Protection Barrier.

In 2007, I. Vilnit was appointed Deputy General Director and Chief Engineer, and in 2010 he became First Deputy General Director and Chief Engineer.

Igor V. Vilnit has a Doctor's degree in science and he is a corresponding member of A.M. Prokhorov Academy of Engineering Sciences.

His achievements in the field of production and research were rewarded with the title of Honoured Designer of the Russian Federation in 2001 and RF Government Science and Technology prize in 2002. Igor V. Vilnit was awarded with a jubilee medal 300 Years of the Russian Navy (1996) and medal In Commemoration of 300th Anniversary of Saint Petersburg Foundation (2003).
