The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) Rubin Design Bureau's hydrodynamics and propulsion systems' design specialists are acknowledged the winners of all-Russian "Engineer of the Year 2025" competition in the Shipbuilding category.

The competition was held in two stages in the areas of "Professional engineers" and "Engineering art of the youth".

The winner of the competition in the area "Professional engineers" developed a method of calculations for the hydrodynamic characteristics with the usage of cluster super-computerised technologies, which helps to assess stealth, manoeuvrability and exploitation safety parameters much more precisely at initial design stages. Moreover, by working in the area of dock development, the designer came up with a method of hydrodynamic removal of ice from the dock, increasing reliability of dock application at low temperatures.

The winner in the competition in the area "Engineering art of the youth" has been engaged in calculations of propulsion and steering of the main projects taken on by the Bureau, thus contributing to development of Rubin Design Bureau own software.

It is the fourth time, since 2022, that Rubin Design Bureau employees have become the winners of the "Engineer of the Year" competition.

Promotion of Rubin specialists' participation in the industry competitions is an essential part of the Bureau's HR management policy. Support of professional self-fulfilment and recognition of merits lead to solving work tasks at a high professional level.

The "Engineer of the Year 2025" competition was held within the framework of the Decade of science and technologies announced by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The Russian Union of Scientific and Engineering Public Associations has held the "Engineer of the Year" competition since 2001. The competition is aimed at identification and promotion of the Russian engineers' best achievements.
