Nikolai Patrushev, Assistant to the Russian President and Chairman of the Marine Board of the Russian Federation, visited the Marine Robotics Centre of Central Design Bureau for Marine Engineering Rubin (affiliate of the United Shipbuilding Corporation).

He familiarized himself with the production site that allows for concurrent assembly of multiple underwater vehicles. Rubin Design Bureau Director General Igor Vilnit briefed the head of the Russian Marine Board on the prospects of development for the new site inaugurated in 2022.

Rubin, being a centre of competence in the field of robotics, is involved in design and construction of unmanned underwater vehicles and their support systems. Those are man-portable vehicles weighing a few kilos as well as LDUUVs and XLUUVs that may weigh as many as several tons. This is the place where underwater robotics systems are created in a fully digital environment with construction of 3D-models and implementation of AI elements.

After the review, Chairman of the Marine Board of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev held a meeting with representatives of industries, where attendees discussed issues related to development and manufacture of shipboard equipment for construction of naval ships and vessels.

A special point was made about importance of enhancing efficiency of the existing measures of State support for this sphere.

Specific emphasis was placed on the necessity for a long-range planning for manufacture and delivery of major shipboard equipment especially that of long-lead nature.

The meeting was attended by Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Aleksander Moiseev, representatives of Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, United Shipbuilding Corporation, heads of various enterprises and agencies.
